GARY HOLLAND

Gary Holland is President of SmashPoint CreativeWorks.

Holland comes to SmashPoint CreativeWorks from TBS, the “very funny” TV network, where he served as Vice President, Marketing, and was based in Atlanta. In this role he managed all aspects of consumer marketing campaigns for the network, including the award-winning launch campaign for “Sex and the City on TBS”, and various original and off-network series campaigns, as well as creating and developing launch strategies and marketing and media plans for the network. He previously held the position of Vice President, On-Air Projects, for TBS, where he managed the creative efforts for the TBS On-Air Promotion department, including original series, off-network series, TBS world premiere original movies, TBS Sports, and the network’s Ad Sales Upfront presentations.

Prior to that, Holland spent eight years at Paramount Pictures overseeing day-to-day on-air promotion activities for Paramount Domestic Television Advertising & Promotion in positions such as Vice President and Executive Director. His responsibilities included the supervision of on-air promotion and radio creative for the Domestic Television Marketing department; the development of branding strategies for Network Television and Domestic Television programming; and serving as the liaison with Domestic Television, Network Television, and Paramount Television Group management for marketing projects. Holland also held positions as Director and Manager, where he supervised on-air, radio, and print initiatives and led special projects for first-run syndicated programs, including “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “The Untouchables”.

Holland served four years at NBC as Manager, Advertising & Promotion, and Senior Promotion Producer for WRC-TV, the NBC owned-and-operated station in Washington, D.C. While there he helped determine WRC-TV’s creative philosophy through station image and news positioning campaigns. He also developed marketing strategies and wrote, produced, and directed on-air promotion and radio advertising for station news and programming.

Holland’s experience includes assignments as a writer for Paramount Network Television series, and co-writer/producer for “Drawing the Line”, an original dramatic television film made for the NBC owned-and-operated stations.

A recipient of numerous awards, Holland earned a National Emmy nomination and garnered top spots at Promax/BDA, National Association of Broadcasters, and New York Festivals, among others. Holland is a member of the Writers Guild of America, Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and Promax/BDA.

Holland received a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from Morgan State University and resides in New York City.
